MyFaithVillage is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We strive to continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.
Our Commitment
We believe that every person — regardless of ability — should be able to find a church, connect with a ministry, discover community resources, and participate fully in the faith community. Accessibility is not just a legal requirement; it's an expression of the inclusive love at the heart of our mission.
Conformance Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including:
- Visual impairments — blindness, low vision, color blindness
- Hearing impairments — deafness, hard of hearing
- Motor impairments — limited fine motor control, inability to use a mouse
- Cognitive impairments — learning disabilities, distractibility, inability to remember or focus
Measures We Take
MyFaithVillage takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and ARIA labels throughout the site.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (buttons, links, forms, menus) are accessible via keyboard.
- Color contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Alt text: Images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes.
- Form labels: All form fields have associated labels for screen reader compatibility.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus styles are maintained for keyboard navigation.
- Responsive design: The site is usable across all screen sizes, from mobile phones to large desktop monitors.
- Text resizing: Content remains readable and functional when text is resized up to 200%.
- Error identification: Form errors are clearly identified and described in text.
- Skip navigation: Skip-to-content links are available for keyboard users.
